Four more medicinal products enter the European health technology assessment (JCA)
Fayuvi (rebisufligene etisparvovec) from Ultragenyx
A gene therapy for the treatment of mucopolysaccharidosis type IIIA (Sanfilippo syndrome type A).
Assessor: Austria; co-assessor: Hungary.
Lirafugratinib (lirafugratinib) from Elevar Therapeutics
For the treatment of adult patients with previously treated, unresectable, locally advanced or metastatic cholangiocarcinoma.
Assessor: Sweden; co-assessor: Austria.
Pelabresib (pelabresib) from Novartis
For the treatment of disease-related splenomegaly or symptoms in adults with myelofibrosis, in combination with ruxolitinib (Jakavi).
Assessor: Norway; co-assessor: Estonia.
Wevdury (fuzuloparib) from Hengrui Pharma
For the treatment of metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer in combination with abiraterone and prednisone/prednisolone.
Assessor: Germany (IQWiG); co-assessor: Netherlands (ZIN).
With fuzuloparib, the seventh medicinal product from Chinese research is already starting a JCA procedure, whereas the 20 largest pharmaceutical companies worldwide have so far sent only seven JCA candidates into the assessment. This indicates that Chinese companies show a high degree of innovation and that Europe is becoming less and less attractive as a market for the large established pharmaceutical companies. Since the announcement of the US Most-Favored-Nation (MFN) policy in May 2025, only three top 20 manufacturers have initiated a JCA procedure.
